 This is an HSE approved course to comply with the First Aid at Work regulations for First Aider in the workplace. The course covers primary and secondary care including a mix of theory and practical tasks. It must be carried out by an approved instructor. It is 18 contact hours and conducted over a minimum of 3 days (although can be longer as long as each lesson at least 2 hours contact time).

These regulations are in place for all workplaces including ones with less than 5 workers and self-employed workplaces. The minimum requirement for small workplaces is that there is at least one personnel who is trained in either Emergency First Aid at Work course (also offered by Future Training) or First Aid at Work. This course will give you the confidence and knowledge to deal with health emergencies and to comply with regulations.

The certificate is valid for 3 years and then you can attend a 2 day requalification as long as your certificate is still in date. You will be assessed on completion of the course by 1 or 2 assessors (not the instructor). This course is taught 100% in classroom and not online. The HSE recommend that all first aiders complete an annual first aid refresher course.

First Aid at Work is 3 day course and is for learners intending to act as a First Aider in the workplace. This qualification will provide all the required first aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not breathing normally, is unconscious, bleeding or is ill or injured prior to the arrival of the emergency services. The course is designed to provide the First Aider with the skills necessary to give effective basic life support, diagnose and treat minor and manage major injuries or illness keeping the patient alive until the emergency services arrive. This qualification will be enable the holder of this qualification to deal competently and confidently as a first aid trained member of staff in the workplace.

The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate.
