The
course provides the knowledge on how to install a solar PV system and
takes into consideration the majority of systems installed in the UK
investigating the different system configurations, components and
operating characteristics. The course targets aspects which are
particular to solar PV systems giving operatives the confidence to
select, install and maintain systems
a) Solar resource assessment (inc. SAP calcs.)
b) 0G83/1 Grid connection requirements
c) AC & DC electrical theory & practical for PV
d) Basic roofing structures & integrity issues
e) Hands-on PV Panel Mounting
f) Mechanical installation of roof fixings
g) Setting to work/commissioning
h) System testing
i) Paperwork and test forms
Candidates
MUST be a fully qualified electrician and/or a registered Competent
Person at least to a defined-scope Domestic Installer standard. You
should also hold 17th Edition Wiring Regulations certification. Proof
will need to be shown to course tutor during the course for you to be
entered for assessments.
Please note that in order to register for
MCS, electrical installation qualifications and (if domestic install)
the ability to register the job under Part P of the Building Regulations
are a must.
