Future Training and Gas & Electrical Corporation are now offering a gas training course aimed at new entrants who wish to qualify as a fully licensed Gas Engineer. Category 3 Candidates are those of you who are new to the industry, we can give you in house class room training with practical workshop experience to get you ready for your on the job training.

Training and Revision

We are aware that every candidate who approaches Gas & Electrical Corporation LTD Centre is different. Some have major training needs, some have minor training needs and some may feel that they have no training needs at all but with legislation ever changing, we have built training/revision into our fees to ensure that safety and standards are maintained. 
We can cater for all requests and will happily put together a weekend training plan for you.


Course Structure

This course covers the following topics:

STAGE ONE: 8am-6pm, Mon-Fri 15 days - £995 (+VAT)

This course is aimed at those with limited or no formal qualifications and who are seeking to gain access to the Gas ACS assessments.

The course content covers domestic gas supply systems and includes:

  • Gas Safety Legislation
  • Gas Emergency Actions and Procedures
  • Characteristics of Combustion
  • Installation of Pipework and Fittings
  • Testing for Soundness
  • Checking and/or Setting Meter Regulators
  • Identification of Unsafe Situations
  • Operation and Positions of Emergency Isolation Controls and Valves Emergency Notices and Warning Labels
  • Checking and Setting Appliance Burner Pressures and Gas Rates
  • Operation and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls
  • Flueing Standards & Ventilation
  • Flue Testing
  • Installation of Open, Balanced and Fan Assisted Flue Assemblies
  • Re-establish Existing Gas Supply and Relight Procedures


On successful completion of the course assessment, exams & on the job training criteria, individuals will qualify as a Category 1 gas operative. 

Candidates are then eligible to progress to ACS Gas Assessment and Gas Safe Registration. 

Successful completion of the ACS (CCN1) assessments will permit the candidate to apply for 'Gas Safe' registration

This section of the course can also be taken over 7 weekends


STAGE TWO: Portfolio Package - £995 (+VAT)

Gas & Electrical Corporation offer the full portfolio service which is an intensive course that ensures you cover your criteria with a gas safe registered engineer.

This section of the course can be taken over 7 weekends.


STAGE THREE: CCN1 + 5 Applicances - £995 (+VAT)


Once you have completed your gas portfolio your understanding and knowledge of the work completed will be checked, and provided all the criteria has been met you can book your CCN1 Gas exam & Appliances.

Pre-requisites to join

There are no pre-requisites to enrol in this course as it is designed to take candidates from a new entrant to a fully qualified Gas Engineer.
